What Sets Summer Fenn Apart?

It is the caliber, maturity, and professionalism of our staff.  Their talent, energy, experience, and dedication are absolutely unmatched. Our rigorous and selective hiring process is aimed at recruiting the most experienced, skilled professionals available. Most are teaching professionals, including some from the Fenn School faculty and all are college age and up. Summer Fenn staff are selected for their maturity, enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for working with children.

An average staff-to-camper ratio of 1:6 (1:4 for Lower Camp and our PreK program) ensures individual attention.

maggie Magner - Director

Maggie brings considerable experience in both camping and enrichment programming for children. She was most recently the Director of Hill House Summer Camp in Beacon Hill, and previously spent years working in a residential camp setting in New York. Maggie's firm belief that camp occupies a unique space in children's lives to build friendships, develop new skills and safely explore their own autonomy is at the heart of her work here at Summer Fenn.

Maggie's breadth of experience in the field of enrichment programming includes training Head Start and Early Intervention educators, as well as developing curricula and training for a national parenting company. Her approach to program delivery is centered on age-appropriateness, experiential learning, and allowing each child to be challenged and to participate at their own level.

Maggie lives in Ayer with her husband, two sons and two rescue doggies- where she also practices yoga, roots for the Red Sox, and sings to and entertains children in homeless shelters through the Birthday Wishes organization.

Nancy came to Summer Fenn in 2021 with a diverse background that has always included camp in one way or another since her first experience as a NJAS Weis Ecology Center Nature Day Camp counselor in 2004.  With a B.S. in Environmental Science – Wildlife from Unity College, she has worked in a variety of fields with animals, but also as an environmental educator for over 20 years.

As the center of the Camp Office in the summer months, Nancy likes to keep things running as smoothly as possible for our campers, their families and our staff.
